Virgin Holidays V Room Manchester

Virgin Holidays commissioned Liam Hopkins to design, manufacture and install an interior installation for the V Room at Manchester airport. Here is some information what the piece is about. The North West is well known for its industrial heritage and it still houses the largest industrial estate in Europe making this area a vital part of the countries economy. The City uses a symbol of a Bee on the coat of arms to represent hard work and industry. The motto is “concilio et labore”, or “integrity and industry”. This led Liam Hopkins and his company Lazerian to explore the bees community and in particular there habitiat. A mass of hexagonal wax cells built by honey bees in their nests to contain their larvae, store honey and pollen. Inspired by this very construction Liam created this installation for Virgin Holidays that explored form and extruded structures to express the connection between bees, the North West and the world.
